•The LATA Awards (Latin Alternative Theater Awards), created by Héctor Luis Productions under the direction of Héctor Luis Sin Censura, have celebrated Latino alternative theater since 2017 in New York, New Jersey and nearby areas. These awards not only honor local artists but also recognize international organizations, institutions and artists who have played a significant role in this artistic evolution. It is a platform that seeks to highlight the contribution and importance of alternative art in these communities, providing recognition to those who have promoted and enriched this field.

Regina Carregha is a bilingual actress, singer and poet, originally from Cancun, Mexico, based in New York City. She studied Musical Theater for 2 years at the Santa Fe University of Art and Design, and in 2020, she graduated from the  3 year conservatory at the Stella Adler Studio of Acting. Regina is an Alumni of Labyrinth’s Intensive Ensamble class of 2021 and came back as an intern/ SM on 2023.  Whether it is performing, writing or directing, she loves working on challenging and emotional material especially featuring characters striving for a better life, and Latine and Women empowerment stories. Regina loves blending art with activism and through her poetry she creates perfomance art videos that talk about social issues such as “Carta a Toda Mujer“, “TITA” and “A Decade Later“. Her recent Theater credits include 4 national tours “El Otro Oz” (TheaterWorks USA (2022 and 2023)) and “Sugar Skull: A Dia de Muertos Musical Adventure” (Mexico Beyond Mariachi and Rhythm of The Arts 2022 and 2023). 

She has also been part of the cast of several plays produced on Off Broadway Theaters such as; “How to Melt I.C.E” (New Perspectives and Boundless Theater Companies), “A Dia de Muertos Cabaret” (Frigid NYC), and “Bodas de Sangre” (The Phoenix Theater), for her performance as the Bride she was nominated for Best Actress in a Leading Role by The Regional Broadway World Awards. Her recent Film and TV credits include, starring as Carly in the web series pilot, “Plant Moms” (Pink Among Men), Official Selection at more than 10 festivals, and starring as Renata, in the Indie short “Duplicity by koy” (TeamTheater) which is currently in post-production.

Regina Carregha will receive the recognition on March 25 at the LATA Charity Gala in commemoration of International Theater Day to be held at the William V. Musto Cultural Center in Union City, NJ
