•The LATA Awards (Latin Alternative Theater Awards) , created by Héctor Luis Productions under the direction of Héctor Luis Sin Censura, have celebrated Latino alternative theater since 2017 in New York, New Jersey and nearby areas. These awards not only honor local artists but also recognize international organizations, institutions and artists who have played a significant role in this artistic evolution. It is a platform that seeks to highlight the contribution and importance of alternative art in these communities, providing recognition to those who have promoted and enriched this field.


Valeria A Avina , Award-winning Queer Nonbinary Film Director, Actor, Clown and Voice Coach from Durango Mexico based in NYC.

Valeria teaches Voice at Rutgers University Masson Gross School of Arts, they are The Regional Coordinator of Latin America of The Fitzmaurice Institute and a Pediatric Clown at Healthy Humor.

Valeria has appeared in dozens of performances, workshops and readings with theaters such as New York Theater Workshop, INTAR, Boundless Theater, Phoenix Theater Company, All for One Theater, Drama League, Bushwick Star, The Tank, The Lark, LATEA, La Micro Theater, to name a few. Valeria has won Film festivals and nominations across the country and Internationally as an actor and Director such as: SeriesFest, Fuerza Fest, The New York Long Island Film Festival, Flow Festival and Film Market, International Puerto Rican Film Festival, and the Official Latino Film Festival.

Proud member and panelist at Fuerza Fest, Cayenne Film Festival, Colectivo LGBT Durango Mexico, UNIT52, The Dramatist Guild, NALIP and Ensemble Member at The Phoenix Theater Ensemble.

City Artist Corps Grant Recipient 2021, PANO grants Semi- Finalist 2022, and NALIP 2021 Diverse Women in Media Forum Emerging Content Creators Scholarship Recipient, and 2023 Doreen Montalvo ‘Do It Anyway’ Scholarship Finalist.

Valeria A Avina will receive the  recognition on March 25 at the LATA Charity Gala in commemoration of International Theater Day to be held at the William V. Musto Cultural Center in Union City, NJ
