Kathy Tejada is a Latina actor and educator. Ms. Tejada has been the executive producer of Teatro TEBA since it’s inception. For over thirty years she has been performing in Latino theater productions throughout the tri-state area, from classic to contemporary works. Among the numerous TEBA productions she has participated in are: “La ύltima poesía del continente” (ACE Award), “Dos Fridas, Dos Diegos, 2da parte” (ACE Award), “El señor Presidente “, “La Casa de los siete Balcones” (HOLA Award & ZONA FRANCA Award). With Thalia Spanish Theatre we’ve seen Kathy in “A Dangerous Theater Game”, “El FlamenConde de Orgaz”, “Las señoritas de Aviñon“ (ACE Award), “The Prostitutes Will Precede You Into the Kingdom of Heaven” (HOLA Award), “La Callas & Medea” and “We Women Do It Better Than Men”. Other productions we have seen Kathy in are “Maduritas, Macrobióticas y Multiorgásmicas” in the Queens Theatre Latino Festival; “Life Lessons” (LATA Award,TALIA Award) and “Mom’s Playlist/Las canciones de Mamá” (LATA Award), both at Thalia Spanish Theatre; “Good Year, Arizona” in Teatro TEBA’s Spanglish Theater Festival, at the William V. Musto Cultural Center and Downtown Urban Arts Festival; “La casa de Bernarda Alba Siglo XXI” (TALIA Award). Most recently we’ve seen Ms. Tejada in “Invitados a la mesa” at TEBA’s Spanglish Theater Festival and FITEX; “Mi nombre es…” at the Frenzy Festival and “Amends” for the Equity Library Theater of New York.
•The LATA Awards (Latin Alternative Theater Awards), created by Héctor Luis Productions under the direction of Héctor Luis Sin Censura, have celebrated Latino alternative theater since 2017 in New York, New Jersey and nearby areas. These awards not only honor local artists but also recognize international organizations, institutions and artists who have played a significant role in this artistic evolution. It is a platform that seeks to highlight the contribution and importance of alternative art in these communities, providing recognition to those who have promoted and enriched this field.
• Kathy Tejada received her recognition on March 25, 2024 at the LATA Benefit Gala commemorating International Theatre Day held at the William V. Musto Cultural Center in Union City, NJ
