Michael Vazquez received the Latin Alternative Theater Award as an Actor in Best Ensemble for “Hamlet in Harlem”. Written and directed by Alberto Ferreras -Theater for the New City.
Michael Vazquez has been in theater and film for over 30 years. He has performed in many plays at Theater for the New City, including Yolanda Rodriguez’s “Emigración”, “La causa”and “To Kiss the Check of the Moon”. Others include Hanoch Levin’s “Job’s Passion” directed by David Willinger, “Dream Star Café” directed by Crystal Field, “Benny’s Barbershop”, Laurel Hessing’s “The Further Adventures of Uncle Wiggly” and “Sketching Utopia”. Alberto Ferreras’s “Hamlet in Harlem. He played many roles in TNC’s award winning Summer Street Theater. Michael was also in Miguel Pinero’s “Nuyorican Nights” at the NuyoricIan Poets Café directed by Rome Neal. Worked abroad with “One Director Against his Cast” performed in L’Aquila, Italy. Toured Poland with Alfred Jarry’s “Ubu: Enchaine” in collaboration with The Point Theater and Teatre Polski. Played, Tony, in “Bad Dreams” presented in the HBO Film Festival and Tribeca Film Festival. TV experience: WPIX DANCE ALIVE, USA UP ALL NIGHT with host Gilbert Gottfried. Extra roles in “Company man”, “Girl Fight” with Michelle Rodriguez, “Changing Lanes”, “OZ”, “Law & Order” and “Third Watch” Michael Vazquez’s playwright credit include, “Findind My Back Home”, “Collapsing Universe”, “Life’s Too Short to Cry”, “Whatever Happed to Rest”, “The Mind of a Child” and “The Son of the Sun”.
